Sure, The Met and The MoMA are go-to places if you’re feeling artsy, but if you want to try something new and avoid the big crowds, head over to the hundreds of free art galleries in Chelsea.
Most galleries are constantly changing their exhibits every few weeks, making frequent visits an easy thing to do. Each gallery shows very different art than the next, so whether you’re interested in photography, paintings, or sculpture, you’re sure to find a variety of different styles and media while visiting the galleries in Chelsea.
Last weekend, I visited a few of the galleries located at 521 West 21st Street.
Tanya Bonakdar Gallery Studio Imaginaire, by Thomas Scheibitz (October 23-December 13)
Paula Cooper Gallery Works on view from Hans Haacke (October 25-November 22)
Kravets | Wehby Obelisk Movements by Asad Faulwell (October 16-November 19)
